Meet and greet info

Supplies:

Please find the supply list on the schools main website.

Child's name on their rest mat and backpack.

Things to keep in your child's backpack:

*Change of clothes in a gallon size ziploc bag with their name on it.. Example: shirt ,shorts, and underwear for warmer weather. Pants in the cooler weather.

*Small blanket for rest time.

*Bottle or cup with a spill proof lid for water. I will be able to fill it for them daily if needed. The water fountains will be off limits for the children due to COVID. They will leave this in their backpack until needed.

Bathroom:

We have our own bathroom in our classroom. My rule is only 1 person in the bathroom at a time.

Your child is expected to take care of their own bathroom needs. We do not go in to help them wipe. Please continue teaching them at home on how to do this.

We understand that accidents do still happen from time to time, especially at rest time. Please let me know if this is a concern so that we are aware. Each child will have the opportunity to use the restroom before rest time.

Arrival:

The earliest your child is allowed at school is 7:15 a.m. They will need to go to the cafeteria for 15 mins before being dismissed to my classroom. I do not arrive until 7:30 a.m. so therefore no one will be in the classroom until then.

Your child will have temperature taken at the door. It is a simple wrist scan by a thermometer. If they have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher they will have to be quarantined and a parent called to come pick them up immediately.

From 7:30 to 8:30 we will be doing morning manipulatives, cartoons on the carpet, or playtime outside (weather permitting)

Your child will come into the classroom to hang up their backpack, take out their daily folder, and check in with myself or Mrs.Stout. They will be telling us if they will be eating breakfast,if they brought their lunch box or what they want from the choices off the menu. Menus will be sent home each month.

Breakfast:

At 8:15 we will go to breakfast as a class. If your child has already eaten breakfast at home, they will still come with us to the cafeteria. They will just sit and socialize while the others eat.The tardy bell rings at 7:55.

We will be back in the classroom no later than 8:40 to start our daily circle time.

Centers:

We will be completing 5 learning/educational centers in the mornings.

They will learn how to rotate centers while carrying their daily folder.

After each center my assistant and I will be disinfecting the work area before the next center begins. These 5 centers will be our curriculum for the day. For example: letter, number, shape, color and chromebook.

Lunch:

Our lunch time is 11:00-11:20

Your child may bring their lunch box. I will help your child open packages if needed. However it makes things go much smoother if your child is capable of opening their own. Please practice this with them at home. By your child opening their own packaging this is helping develop their small motor skills.  It is helpful if your child's food is out of the individual packaging if possible and into some type of tupperware type container.

The lunch room can sometimes be overwhelming at first. It is normal for children to not typically eat as much as they normally do at home. They get busy looking around and checking everything out. We will remind them to eat but we will not hand feed them.

We will be working on manners while in the cafeteria as well.

They will get a choice of white or chocolate milk.

Please make sure you fill out the free/reduced lunch menu forms that is in your child's packet.

P.E.

Our p.e. will be handled by Mrs.Stout as that is my planning and lunch time.

Weather permitting they will be outside on our playground. If the weather doesn't permit, we will be in the elementary gym. They will be doing following direction type games/activities.

Rest time:

During the first few days we will be watching a movie during rest time. After the first few days we will only watch a movie at rest time on Fridays. We call it “Fun Friday.”

We will have quiet music playing on the other days at rest time.

Your child does not have to sleep but we do expect them to be respectful and quiet.

Social centers:

Are just that…...a time for kids to be kids and be social in a learning environment. We will be working on things like team work, sharing, and taking turns.

Snack time:

The school provides snacks but if you would like to bring snacks they need to be off the healthy snack list.

Dismissal:

Bus riders- I will place a sticker on their shirt that says what bus they belong on. Our bus assistant will help them get into the correct bus line and then walk with them down to get onto the bus. If your child has an older sibling/family member that rides the same bus they will be able to sit with them.If they do not they will sit near the front.

Car riders- Your child will be dismissed through our cafeteria. We will assist your child to the correct numbered cone where they will wait for you to pull to a stop. Please stay in your car as you pull through the line. A teacher or staff will help your child get into the car and with the car door if needed.  If your child needs help buckling their seat belt, you will pull through the line and then to the edge of the driveway. This is where you may get out of your car to help your child.

Other info:

Daily folder is a good way to communicate for non emergency type things. For example if normally your child is a bus rider but will be picked up through the car line, please send a note in the daily folder. I will check their folder every morning. Please do not expect your 4 year old to communicate something so important as sometimes they get confused.

I will also use the CLASS DOJO app for easy communication. This is basically a text messaging system for you and I to use. I can send out group announcements, pictures of our day, and anything else super easy!  If you send me a message back it is just between you and I. No one else can see the message. You will need to download the app to your phone.

Virtual info:

Each child will have their own email login. For example: ssmith@oktahaschool.org and the password will be OPS! and then their lunch number 1234. So for example: OPS!1234

I will be sending home that info as soon as I get it.

This will be used for accessing the google classroom platform that I will be posting our circle time videos/activities.

We will be using a new website called Kids Academy during regular school days along with in the chance we have to go virtual. I will send home login info as soon as I get it.

Along with both of those online platforms there is no better way for 4 and 5 year olds to work on small motor skills than actual paperwork type materials. Each week you will need to pick up and drop off finished classroom work that has been assigned.

**Students will only need to access the above virtual information if the time comes we have to go to distant learning due to school being closed due to illness/weather.
