 Special Education

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law that ensures services to eligible students with disabilities throughout the nation. However, not every child who struggles is guaranteed an Individualized Education Plan (IEP.) In order to qualify for  services under this law the student must meet three specific criteria. 1.) The student must have one of the 13 disability categories listed in the law. 2.) The disability must have an adverse impact on the student’s education, and 3.) because of the adverse impact on their education, the student thereby has a need for specialized instruction. The mission of the special education department at Oktaha school is to ensure that all students with disabilities learn. Our goal is not to make school easier for students. But rather, we are committed to developing knowledgable, skilled and confident citizens who are capable of succeeding in their future work and family lives.
