Class Syllabi

         Physical Science

Our text is Physical Science, McLaughlin, Thompson, Zike; Columbus: McGraw Hill. It consists of 24 chapters divided into six functional areas as follows: Unit 1 - Motion and Forces; Unit 2 - Energy; Unit 3 - Waves; Unit 4 - Matter; Unit 5 - Reactions; Unit 6 - Applications of Chemistry

 
Tests will account for 60% of the student’s total grade. The lowest test score will be dropped. Lab assignments will account for 20% and homework assignments 20%. 
 
 
 
Chemistry

 

       Our text is Chemistry: Matter and Change, Buthelezi, Dingrando, Hainen, Wistrom, and Zike; 1st Ed. Columbus: McGraw-Hill. It consists of 24 chapters and covers the following areas: analyzing data, matter and change, atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical names and formulas, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, states of matter, the behavior of gases, ionic and covalent bonds, solutions, reaction rates and equilibrium, acids and bases, redox reactions, electrochemistry, organic chemistry, and nuclear chemistry.

 

       Tests will account for 60% of the student’s total grade. The lowest test score will be dropped. Lab assignments will make up 20% and homework assignments 20%. This is an honors course.
